Listen in

It starts with the noise around you.

A message, voices next door, a door. Every new sound pulls a little of your attention away.

Layer one

Then rain. All around you.

On the roof, on the window, in the leaves. In the app the rain sits in a room around you, with AirPods it stays put when you turn your head.

Layer two

Beneath it, a deep hum.

Brown noise, calculated sample by sample. No loop you could ever recognise, as long as you listen.

Layer three

And a pulse, 16 times a second.

The whole sound gently swells and falls. You barely notice it, it just gives the sound a steady rhythm. Calculated live, measured exactly.

Your focus sound

And the world goes quiet.

In the app you build your own sound in the onboarding, layer by layer, and hear it come together.

Focus sessions

Rounds instead of willpower.

Pick a rhythm, press start, and work until the singing bowl sounds. Then a calmer sound plays for your break.

The mixing desk

Your sound. Your mix.

Layer scenes and noise, set each one to the level you like, add a frequency layer and save it. Everything changes live, without a gap.

Four spatial scenes

Rain, ocean, forest and a warm drone, placed around you.

Three noise colours

White, pink and brown, generated live. Never a loop.

A frequency layer

Binaural beat, isochronic pulses or modulation. On speakers, Zen Sounds switches to pulses by itself.

Saved mixes

Your favourite sound, back with one tap. Or make it your focus sound.

Breathe

Seven breathing exercises. Guided.

Follow the bloom. It grows as you breathe in and gets smaller as you breathe out. A calm voice, a warm tone and a gentle vibration keep the rhythm.

Breathe in your break

In the break of a focus session, one tap starts a short practice. Your session keeps running.

With a sound beneath

Lay rain, forest, ocean or the warm drone softly under your practice.

One, three or five minutes

For a moment in between, for the evening, or as a small daily ritual.

Generated live. Measured.

The number on the screen is the number you hear.

Every value with a Hz label is calculated on your iPhone, sample by sample. Before each release, automated tests measure every frequency: left ear, right ear, pulse and modulation.

Measured: Deep focusModulation spectrum

We don't promise to synchronise your brainwaves. We promise the number is right.

What research says, in the app under "So messen wir": calm music before sleep and slow breathing are well studied. Noise helps some people and not others, modulation and binaural beats are still being researched. So try what helps you.

With the Zenbox

One tap. Apps locked. Sound on.

Hold your phone to the Zenbox for a moment: your distracting apps are locked and your focus sound starts. The box stays where it is, you start working.

Questions and answers

Do I need headphones?
No. Zen Sounds works on the speaker too. With headphones the scenes sit in a room around you, and only with headphones does a binaural beat form, because each ear needs its own tone. On a speaker, Zen Sounds plays soft pulses instead.
What is the frequency layer?
A layer with an exact rate in Hz, calculated live. Binaural beat: a slightly different tone in each ear. Isochronic pulses: a soft tone pulsing evenly. Modulation: the whole sound gently swells and falls. You can switch it off anytime.
Is it scientifically proven?
Some of it is well studied, for example calm music before sleep and slow breathing. Noise helps some people and not others, and modulation and binaural beats are still being researched. That's why we don't promise effects on your brain, we show you the facts and let you try what helps you.
Which breathing exercises are there?
Seven: cyclic sighing, calm breath (4 · 6), resonance breathing, box breathing, 4-7-8 breathing, humming breath and alternate nostril breathing. Each one has its own rhythm, picture and sound, guided by a calm voice in German. Three of them are free.
Do I need a Zenbox?
No. Zen Sounds works on its own. With a Zenbox, starting turns into a small ritual: hold your phone to the box for a moment, apps locked, sound on.
What will it cost?
The free core stays free: noise, rain, your own focus sound, focus sessions and three breathing exercises. Zen Sounds Plus unlocks every scene, the frequency layer, all presets and all seven breathing exercises, also as a one-time purchase without a subscription. We'll announce prices at launch.
Is Zen Sounds a medical device?
No. Zen Sounds is a wellness app for focus, relaxation and your evening routine. It does not replace medical advice.
When can I get it?
Zen Sounds is coming to the App Store soon. Leave your email and we'll tell you first.

Zen Sounds is a wellness app and not a medical device. iPhone, iPad, AirPods, Dynamic Island and Siri are trademarks of Apple Inc.
