Zen Neck

New from Zenbox: Zen Neck

Chin up.

Your AirPods feel it when your head sinks forward. Zen Neck gently reminds you to sit tall, before your neck reminds you.

Upright

Your head weighs about 5 kilos.

As long as it sits over your shoulders, your neck carries it with ease. Your AirPods know exactly where that is.

A look at your phone

With every degree, it gets heavier.

Tilted forward, the load grows fast: at 60 degrees it feels like about 27 kilos. You hardly notice it. Your AirPods do.

The gentle nudge

A singing bowl. That's all.

After a few seconds of slouching, a soft singing bowl sounds in your AirPods. If you like, also a calm voice or a tap on your wrist.

And back up

Sit tall. Your neck breathes out.

Zen Neck notices that too: "Lovely. Just like that." And in the evening you see when you slouched most.

How it works

Set it up once. Then just work.

1

Put in your AirPods

Nod, turn, tilt: in about a minute Zen Neck learns how your AirPods sit. Then it knows your upright posture.

2

Work as usual

Music, calls, focus: Zen Neck runs quietly alongside and only measures the tilt of your head. Even with the screen locked.

3

Gently reminded

Your choice of how. And with head gestures you answer hands free: nod for "I'm sitting up", shake for ten quiet minutes.

Focus with posture

Deep work. Light neck.

Start a focus round and Zen Neck watches your posture while you work. When the time is up, a short neck break follows, with the coach showing every move.

Mac

On your Mac too. Even without AirPods.

Your posture lives in the notch, your streak in the menu bar. No AirPods? Use the camera: Apple's Vision recognizes on your Mac when your head drifts forward. No picture is stored or sent.

Questions and answers

How can AirPods know my posture?
AirPods with spatial audio have a gyroscope and an accelerometer, so the sound can follow your head. Apple lets apps read this head motion. Zen Neck uses only the forward tilt of your head, compares it with your upright position and reminds you when it stays forward for a while. No camera, no microphone.
Which AirPods work?
AirPods with spatial audio and head tracking, for example AirPods Pro, AirPods 4, AirPods (3rd generation) and AirPods Max. Some Beats models work too.
Do I need AirPods?
No. The guided neck breaks, your streak and the insights work without them. On a Mac, the posture coach can also use the camera.
Does it drain my AirPods?
The head tracking is built into your AirPods anyway. Zen Neck only reads the angle of your head, so you can keep listening to music and take calls as usual.
Is Zen Neck a medical device?
No. Zen Neck helps you notice your posture and move more often. It does not replace medical advice. If you have pain, numbness or dizziness, please see a doctor.
When can I get it?
